Basically, you have to build the right backlinks in the right way over the right timescale. It is a finely detailed art which few, if any, have mastered, as google changes the game so often.

The general idea is you want your page to show up on the first page in yahoo/google/bing, ect... when people search with keywords that relate to your service. This is done by having your site be the most relevant and have the most authority in those search engines. Plus you should advertise offline, on online classifieds, social networking sites, anywhere you can. First if you dont have much content on the site google probably won't rank you. Put your website in adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and see what words google comes up with on your site, and look at suggestions to optimize for. There is a lot to learn so get reading!
