I could really use some help from you seasoned pros, so any guidance will be much appreciated.

I have a site that I use to promote an affiliate company I am part of. This site is about 5 months old and I have put a lot of time into on and off site SEO. My dilemma is I was contacted by the affiliate company today because apparently I am not following their TOS because in my site domain name I have the name of the company. For example, let's say the company is called pigvomit.com. My domain is what-is-pigvomit.com and they are telling me that unless I change my domain name, they are going to terminate my account. I would hate to buy a new domain and transfer my site over because I would lose all of my backlinks and rankings, correct? If so, is there a way to keep all of my hard work and redirect my site to a new domain? I apologize if there is an extremely easy answer to my questions, but I am kind of new to this and I'm still learning the tricks of the trade.

If there is a solution that is easily obtainable, I would be extremely grateful to everyone that can help.

    Thanks!!!

Easy dude. Take your domain and create a 401 redirect to your new domain. Then copy over everything to a new site. Copying varies by cms, but if you google something like "switching domains with cms x" you should be able to find really easy guides on how to do it. 401 tutorials are really easy to find online too, and some cases your cpanel can handle it itself. Good luck!

I think you mean 301 direct.

Ok, so I did everything that aardanyul said to do. I also forwarded my old domain to my new domain with masking. Everything is running great! Now, here's my noob question. When building backlinks in the future, should I build them to my old domain or the new one?

He means 301 redirect not 401, and yes this is what you want to do. Buy a new domain and put your site on there, then use a 301 to redirect over - it will pass the link juice from your existing SEO efforts and you can now start doing SEO on your domain without losing out on everything you had from before.

In case that wasn't clear yes, you should build new links to your new site :)
