What did you end up doing? Im facing the same issue :S
Unique home page copy, but it doesnt have any other sub pages (its a dating site).
Im getting better copy for the home page and adding sub pages with unique content as well. Dont want to submit a reconsideration request though, hoping just waiting and getting it recrawled will get the penalty removed?
