Hey there people on BHW, today I come to you to ask for help.
As some of you might know and as my username suggests, I'm a writer, namely a fiction writer. I've got a journey about growing my following and making it as a writer going, but that's a long game, a really long one.
Due to the current lockdown, I've got a lot more free time than I usually do. So I've been thinking of trying my luck at some other IM projects. Thing is, I've got no real clue where to start. I've tried a few things here and there, but nothing ever picked up and got anywhere.
As a Writer
As I said I'm a writer and I'm not too bad at it, but I'm still not earning a lot. I get accepted into the occasional podcast, get some paid narration requests, but that's about it. It's more than pocket-change but usually not more than $100 a month. Got Adsense installed on my website, but my daily traffic is way too low to do anything about it.
I'm doing a lot of work on Social Media, pretty much all around the board. Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook etc. but once more growing a following here is a long game, since I'm doing it all by myself and I can't afford to spend money.
I've got a Patreon, but again, nothing much going on there.
Basically, as I said this writing thing is a long game. It's going to take a long while until it will really take off. I still need to hone my skills, write more, write better and market myself more.
The Problem
So that's why I'm coming here to get some ideas. I know there are various ways of earning money online, hell I've read a ton of Journeys and threads on here. Yet, somehow I can't put things together and make them work or I'm simply missing part of the knowledge / skills or well a simple gameplan. At times I even think I'm missing something. Like I know how things should work, but I'm somehow not getting them to work.
I guess there are also so many ways that one can try that finding one that's realistic is hard. I tried Instagram and CPA before, but proxies, accounts, and bots ate up the budget I had in no time. It feels like it's the same with a lot of other methods. I read about Affiliate pages, but at the same time, people suggest buying aged domains, use PBNs and so on. It's all a bit too much for someone who's kinda new.
Skills
The first thing is I'm willing to do the work and invest the time. I've been writing daily for the past three years or so and have written more than a hundred stories of various lengths. I've also invested a lot of time into Social Media and grown an okay following.
Writing is an obvious one, but mostly fiction writing. I've never really written any articles, but with some guides and checking out other people's articles I should be okay in that regard.
Other than that, I think I've got a basic understanding of IM, at least in a fundamental way.
I'm also bilingual. I'm a native German speaker, but I'm pretty much on the level of a native speaker in English, considering I'm writing all my fiction in English.
Ideas
What I'm generally looking for would be some sort of medium lengths game ideas.
I know there's no get rich big ideas out there. Well maybe some people are smart and lucky enough to make big money quickly, but well, that's different.
What I'm looking for is a way to earn some money and that's scalable. I'm willing to do the work and I'm willing to invest the time as I said. I'm just not looking for another big project that will take years, even if the reward would be better.
The big problem is that most of the areas I'm knowledgeable in and that I'd enjoy don't seem to lend themselves for good monetization. I know a lot about books and literature in general, but the only way to monetize a blog about literature would be via Amazon and commissions on books are, well, low.
Another thing I like is self-improvement or learning in general. I've read a lot of older books in the niche and a lot of historical texts to learn more. Again though, it seems that there's no good way to monetize this niche and it also seems way too saturated to make a dent.
So I've ruled out both of those ways since it would pretty much mean to create an authority blog and that would very well be another long game.
So what ware some other great ways to earn some money in shorter terms?
