i have bad credit and i cant get credit as i have a few ccj's on my name etc a friend of mine advised me to change my name (surname and forename) and this should give me a fresh start?

Does the so called blacklist only be on the name or address too

any advice guys?

It's by your SSN... Your best chance to get credit would be to open a checking account with a local bank, keep some cash there, then go into that bank and ask for a credit card with a $500 limit charge on it and always pay it down in full a few days before the bill comes in, maybe leave like $50 balance on it so it shows a great credit utilization ration. you must have a job or at least be able to show 2008 / 2009 tax returns to verify your income. With income verification and even the worst credit you should be able to get a card with like a $500 credit limit.

my credits totally screwed im overdrawn with my bank accounts. missed payments on my credit cards and other loans etc etc

would'nt the best bit be changing my name and starting again as for dob there will be plenty others born on the same day? its just the address im concerned about

If you are in the US start by getting a secured credit card. Make sure you pay it off every month. Pay off any collections you have and make sure you don't make any late payments. Within 6 months you should be able to get a normal credit card.

Trying to escape froom debt dont work.
The companies will use a lot of resources until they have tracked you down, they might spend 10K if you ove them 2K. It is not the money but if they let you go away with debt a lot of other people would follow you.

If you are overdrawn then they are only collections, settle them and have a letter of satisfaction sent to the bureaus, this will take it off your report. Changing your name dose nothing unless you change your social which can only be done in certain circumstances like claiming identity theft. FYI if your information is run through the right company along with a corporation's EIN tied to the same address, your name will be tied to that EIN (yes I have done this).

Any other collections will be taken off your report once settled if you negotiate with the collection agency properly.

If you settle with the credit card companies on the remaining balance, you can negotiate to have them take those tradelines off of your report. The process of credit repair takes about 3-6 months and I'd recommend getting someone experienced, I've seen miracles performed by the people who know what they are doing.

Also a secured credit card is the way to go to start to rebuild credit. Go to credit unions as opposed to banks to get lines of credit, much higher chance of getting accepted at a lower interest rate.

Jesus fucking christ where do people even come up with these ideas? You can't pay your fucking bills, what makes you think you can pay attorney fees for this ridiculous idea?

Grow up, take the hit and try to rebuild your credit. That takes time and a history of paying your bills.

100% not true. Settling a collection account does not remove it from your credit record, it simply changes the status to "paid collection".

Nope, creditors are under no legal obligation to remove those records. Generally what happens is the status changes to "creditor settled for less than amount due".

3-6 months huh?

1. "Credit repair" agencies can't do anything you can't do yourself. They have no special powers or magic wands to wipe the slate clean. It's a total scam.

2. Turning your credit around can take years, and telling someone otherwise is just plain nonsense.

Also a secured credit card is the way to go to start to rebuild credit. Go to credit unions as opposed to banks to get lines of credit, much higher chance of getting accepted at a lower interest rate.

If he has overdrawn back accounts like he said, he is probably listed with ChexSystems, and he won't even be able to open a secured account until the debt is satisfied and removed. Credit unions use it too, so no dice there.

@ OP - If you really want to improve your credit, there are no secrets. Just start making better decisions. You won't get a new SSN, and changing your name (lol) isn't going to somehow get you a fresh start.

Mate your barking up the wrong tree. You don't need credit generally speaking, although changing your name isn't going to do anything if your a US resident.

You need to learn to just pay for what you get. If you don't have cash now, then you can't buy it. Then you don't ever need credit. I could write a book, but check out
