I badly need some help regarding keyword research..

I need your expert opinion on the following:

To Measure a competition on google manually, how much should be the acceptable number of the following:

allinurl:"keyword" = ?
(some say less than 30,000)

allintitle:"keyword" = ?
(some say less than 100000)

allinanchor:"keyword" = ?
(some say less than 100000)

those numbers are about right, but it really all depends. with enough money and effort, you can beat 10x those numbers. is this a niche site? if so, you'll probably want to target even weaker keywords. if its for a big project you can target much stronger terms...

the big number is allintitle. that tells you how many people are actually targeting that keyterm. the anchor text number isn't representative becuase many of those links can be weak profile/spam crap links.

keep your allintitle below 100,000 for niche sites, and use market samurai to check top ten competition. if most of the top ten dont have the keyterm in the title or URL, you should be good.

its a game of testing. as you build these sites you'll learn what you're able to beat with the methods and budget you have. after a while you'll be able to just look at a google result page and be able to predict if you can conquer it.

I've done with market samurai but I think they still are doing some major tweaks yet. Is there any other tool that can check competitors well or better than MS?

I am targeting a term that shows an all in title of 147k

and with a couple low quality links and good onsite seo im already on page 4

there is no set figures really

i would say, anything over 400,000 means you will have to rely on large link building.

but below that, not so many links required

As far as I know nobody is better at bulk checking the top 10. However, if you want to research individual websites really deeply, check out the Open Site Explorer from SEOMoz.com. Use that to research your top 3

these terms you posted are outdated.

this is how you do it.

1)get firefox and install the seoquake plug-in.
2)enter the keyword you want to rank for into google.
3)study the websites on the first page of google that rank for the keyword you want.
4)look at the pagerank, amount of backlinks, and age of domain(not super important)

if the page as a pagerank of 4 or higher, it is going to difficult to overtake that page.

if the backlinks are in the thousands, it is going to be dfficult to overtake that website.

if the domain name is aged, once again it is going to be difficult to overtake that page in the rankings.

that is how you do basic keyword research.
