Blogspot definitely can rank for number one, but did you check the competition? You don't have the keyword in your domain name which is an important factor. I am not saying this is the only reason, but keep the sites above yours seem to have more links and some use the keyword or part of it. What about domain age? Have you done a thorough inspection of your competitors to see how many links, indexed pages etc they have?

You should get market samurai so that YOU can see why you are behind your competition. Just keep building links with keyword rich anchors.

check the ones on top of you, a good strategy if you are near the amount of the backlinks they have, is to top it at least, if the backlinks are far too much to catch up, try to maintain quality top PR and reputable sites backlinks. You can either buy a directory or do a little paid links for these. But I dont know if its worth it if you only want a blog to rank for.

Next time research a KW that is easier to rank with just a couple of web 2.0 backlinks and a few bookmarks

The website that ranks #1 in Google is 12 years old, PR 4, has tons of quality backlinks, Yahoo directory listings, DMOZ listings, etc. This is a very well established authority site, and you don't have a chance to outrank them anytime soon, if at all.

I agree with Peter2002. You are going to have a very hard time beating this one anytime in the near future.
maybe you could go and get the Long Tail Keywords and start targeting those with less competotion, create some Doorway pages and have with the long tails and redirect to your main page?

    Just a thought :)
