Can anyone tell me how these domains are being ranked in Google? How are they using these domains? Here the domains are being redirected through the blogger website and taken inside a page. Where various companies have Smartlink

You purchase an article on a very high authority site. These post usually have a sponsored tag on them somewhere but they are very hard to find and pretty much non-existent.

Its simply ranking because it is an EDU site so it already has a lot of authority. Parasites have dramatically gotten worse over the last year though. Google has taken notice and sites who did a lot of parasites got punished HARD.
 
The actual URL shown on Google might not directly indicate the final destination. These scammers often cloak their links, making it seem like a trustworthy domain is hosting the content when, in reality, it's being redirected to a different website via a script or an iframe.
