Hi,

we are moving a old .html site to wordpress and want to ask a few questions, this .html site has over 60 pages and some 20 page have very high traffic from google. we want to keep the traffic without hurting the ranking want to do a swift transfer of the site.

what would be best moving all the 60 pages into wordpress page option?

moving half to post and half to pages? ( with category etc)

what would be the best and how should we do it, please if someone can help us in this case.

the old html site is old format, old design .html extension site we are going to preserve the .html extension into the new wordpress.

Thanks

Adi

You will lost traffic if you will change your permalinks. So maintain same permalinks structure , and safely move your posts. You may see some drop in traffic for few days but after 1-2 weeks it will back to normal

Like @rahul351 said, you're more than likely going to see drops, however, as long as things don't get messed up (URLs, redirects, main SEO elements such as title, h1, and content) then you should recover fairly quickly.

Posts vs pages really depends on the how the HTML site is right now. You could do it all in pages or you your blog posts (or similar) as posts.

i dont really think you need to preserve the .html but you do need to be carefoul about permalinks
