I see people Neg SEOing their competitors everyday and its pathetic. I think Big G should roll out an update that automatically disavows such bad links. What do you guys think?

What do you mean roll out an update to disavow bad links? Do you mean like how Google was before they went psychotic with all of these updates and insanity? I'm with you on that one! :)

It seems so many links are being built now for competitors that even the popular captcha services are having a hard time keeping up with demand. What a flippin mess!

Atleast it's getting to the point where they are soon going to HAVE TO do something about it.

Well contrary to popular sentiment on BHW I think you SHOULD disvaow links if you have been spammed. Unless this is automated (which it may be) that would mean they have to devote a bit of manpower to look at the site affected as well as some of the sites pointing back to you. The more work it creates for them the more $$$ it costs them and we all know they are about the $$$.

On the other hand if it IS automated then you can safely spam your site and if it hurts you then you disavow the links which have already been provided for you by your link provider here on BHW.

I personally have not seen any negative SEO occur within my competitors. Keep in mind... most webmasters won't know about negative SEO.

It's happened to me. Yesterday I sent a disavow report to Google that contained over 25k links. Site that was No 1 got blasted by a competitor and dropped to page 60.

How will Google know the difference batween BAD SEO DONE and NEGATIVE SEO ??

I think it's still open to debate how effective the tool is. Plus, it will likely get incorporated into Google's main algorithm as a ranking factor. Disavowing too many links? There goes that domain's trust. Disavowing too many links across multiple websites, there goes the webmaster's trust and all sites in Webmaster Tools get devalued.

I'm personally against the use of the disavow tool. Webmasters who get blasted in a NSEO campaign, and I mean a real blast with a lot of links, are left with a whole lot of work to try to cleanup. I just don't want to make the time to sift through thousands of links, nor do I really have time for this. It's a huge burden on small businesses when Google could simply nullify the value of suspect links as they did in the past. Instead, Google wants to deputize webmasters and make them into link police officers. This is not the solution for a broken algorithm IMO.

But put in another way, now's an awesome time to open up a captcha service! :P

At this rate people are just going to Neg SEO sites to get to the top because its WAY easier than actually doing SEO on your own site. Big G has to come up with something other than the disavow tool; something automatic.
