IMHO, hands down Sopranos. Can't believe nobody else mentioned it. Other than BrBa, best show ever.
BUT....I have heard amazing stuff about The Wire and I have yet to see it so that's another good one. I'll be checking it out asap.

I would recommend Sherlock and Bates Motel. You know Sherlock Homes already. And you should also remember Normal Bates from Psycho (1960).

The Wire is like Breaking Bad if it were an HBO show(Rated TV-MA) and in the ghetto.

If you have not watched Big Bang Theory, I strongly recommend it. It will make you laugh and I bet that you will be compelled to download all its seasons after watching one episode.

Thumbs up for Fringe as others mentioned here, and the new Sleepy Hollow show. As far as conceptual relevance to black hatting is concerned, the best shows to work by have been White Collar and Burn Notice (the latter being a unique combination of Mission Impossible, McGyver, and Ocean's Eleven each week).
