Need Las Vegas Advice, Etc

Hey everyone,

So my girlfriend talked me in to going out to Vegas next weekend with some friends. I hate spending money, so basically I'm looking for any advice to get the cheapest hotel deal, etc. Where should I stay, etc? I've never even been to Vegas.

If someone has a place/condo/timeshare/etc in Vegas that they want to rent out a few nights, or even just let me stay there, I'd gladly accept, LOL. I'm just looking to make this last second trip as cheap as possible, but still as fun as possible. It's not that I don't have the money to spend, I just don't like dropping big time money on a 3 day weekend trip.

Let me know anything you can. Any help is greatly appreciated. Maybe's there's some free postings or something in there for you if you have something or advice of value.

P.S. Visit Studio 54 at MGM (That shit is fire) and also Ghost bar which is more chill but a great experience. Of course Blueman group and Cirque du Soleil are a must. Good luck and have fun

I don't have any advice on hotels, but for traveling while your there, definantly use the monorail. It'll take you to all the big hotel/casinos, and is very cheap.

I was there in December, had an awesome time!

I just got back from Vegas a few days ago after having spent a week there. Vegas is expensive and getting tougher to find good deals, check out vegas craigslist for deals on places to stay and especially show tix. I got 1/2 tix to Blue Man and KA at the MGM.

Check out the Open Vegas forum for advice and deals, also tripadvisor has another great forum. If you are looking for hotel deals check out FatWallet Forum. The list all the deals on Vegas hotel specials and deals which are always updated. You will also find deals on shows etc.

Eating can be expensive too. Stay away from strip hotel buffets and restaurants-they are usually pricey. A little off strip like Terribles or Ellis Island (ask for steak special not on the menu) can be good for your money

Also for eating, go to restaurant.com, and buy some $25 gift certificates for popular vegas restaurants for only $10 like Jay-Z 40/40 club/restaurant at the Palazzo. You can also get one for the Ocean Bar and Grill at Planet Hollywood which is a cool place to hangout. Use the coupon code "CRAVE" and get it for less than $10.

you can get pretty damn cheap rooms on the strip really..try priceline and hotwire...monte carlo is usually really cheap and its a pretty nice casino

Didn't the monte Carlo catch fire a few months ago? It was just the top few floors. I wonder if they've rebuilt the top floors yet.

Last time we went to Vegas we stayed at the Thunderbird (I think...99.9% positive) casino/hotel. It's a small and old casino, but the room was fine. It was the cheapest place "on the strip" at the time. I've also stayed at the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, and their regular rooms are no better than the smaller joints. And who cares...you're only sleeping there...save some loot for better stuff.

And, I say do check out at least one of the casino buffet's. It's awesome to go in and get fat as fuck off some crab legs, steak, buttery potatos, lobster tail...oh shit, it's good! Then grab a beer or whatever's clever, and head out on the strip miserably stuffed and drinking like crazy. Have fun, but don't lose your ass gambling...there's way better shit to do. See some shows, ride some rides, there's good shopping, good people watcing...Vegas is awesome!

'...I have no idea how to do Las Vegas on the cheap. Being a magician, I go every year for the World Magic Seminar, which is now held at The Orleans. As this is off the strip, accommodation is cheaper than when it was held at the Tropicana or The Riviera, which are still a cheap hotels by Vegas standards.

I don't gamble...never even put a dime in a slot machine, however, my girlfriend does, and is quite good. Several times she has won the cost of the trip.

Biggest problem for me in Vegas is the shows. I have seen Siegfried and Roy, Elton John, Celine Dion, Lance Burton, all the Cirque du Soleil shows and many more, all at over $100.00 per ticket each.

I don't believe it is possible to go to Vegas, have a good time and it not cost much, after all, everything is geared up to part you from your cash, from the oxygen-enhanced air in the casinos, to all the 'must-do' activities...and they are all experts at separating you from your bank roll. Even the continual hands-out for tips means you spend more than you had intended.

If you've got the money, loosen it up a bit and enjoy yourself. If you really don't want to spend, don't go!..and if you believe in Karma, spreading it around means more will come back to you. It's always worked for me.

LOL, there's no wedding going to happen. I'd probably do that before she would. She's way too traditional. You're right, it is Vegas.
