  • I bought a 4 year old domain, it had 3 pages indexed and was parked at Godaddy, it was expired, but at the 30 days to renew mark.
  • Had no drops history
  • Showed up in Google index when searched as domain.com
  • Has about 69 links in Majestic all clean links from clean sites with a diverse anchor profile, no spammy KW
  • The site was used for a Farmers Market in Conneticut (based on its domain name)
  • Checked wayback machine, site was clean and had a history of clean content.
  • The domain had a PR0 when I bought it.

Now I have built the site with my own content, again clean, just a site about website content, very little ads, the home page had a detailed affiliate product review. I added about 100 pages of original related content.

Once the site went live Google indexed the home page after 2 days with my Title and description, then a second page got indexed a couple days later. Today, about 5 days after that happened, ZERO pages are indexed in Google, and PR shows n/a grayed out.

I did not put my content on this site until about a month and a half after I bought it, did I wait too long?

Am I to assume this domain is done with? For whatever reason, Google will never index or favor this site?

WTF? People always talk about how buying aged domains is helpful, I wonder has that changed?

Thanks

I would just start building high quality links to it and ping it to several search engines, google should soon index it, if it doesn't I would say it has been penalized and you should move on, but from what you have said there should be no reason for google to de index it

I agree there is no reason, but what concerns me is the first crawl they seemed to index the home page and more, but now a second crawl they deindexed everything, ZERO pages in SERPS.

i would ad constant updates to it and bookmarks. and social media do this to all of your pages over time and it will get crawled more routinely

You can try content writing tips for this problem because google consider those sites very good who are providing high quality, updated and fresh content.

Wait a few days to see if your site is back in the indexes, if not, just move on to a new site. Make sure you add quality content rich in media without any monetization to start with, jsut so you could rule out any other factors.

Have you created a sitemap and submitted it to Webmaster Tools? There's no reason Google wouldn't favor your site being indexed. I'd configure Webmaster Tools and see if there's any data there. Check you haven't accidentally added any noindex or nofollow tags to your pages. Also check robots.txt and htaccess file.

Thanks everyone, luckily today G indexed 50 pages of the site, must have been a glitch of some sort. Never seen it go from 3 to 0 to 50 before, but all is well.

thanks again

Are you confusing being indexed with ranking?

When you do a google search using the "site:www.whatever.com", it will show you all the indexed pages.

If the site is de-indexed, it will not show up at all. If it shows any pages, it is not de-indexed.

If you only see the two pages, you are fine, it just means that the rest are not indexed yet.

This may be because you have done something incorrectly with your site.

How is your internal linking? Are the 100 pages linked into navigation, daisy chained, or just there? Did you submit a sitemap? Do you have any messages in Webmasters Tools?

No, no confusion, it was zero when searching site:www.whatever.com and SEOQauke showed 0 indexed as well, been doing this for 7 years.

But, like I posted in my update, 50 + pages have since been indexed, it was just weird, how it went from 2 pages indexed to 0 for about 5 days, and now on the last crawl 50 pages are indexed.

Thanks
