Need Immediate Help with Friend Site.

I started a niche based friend site about 4 months ago. We had quite a few new members initially, but things have slowed down considerably. Now, we hardly have any traffic or new sign ups. There are about 10 ppl that regularly check messages, but most of the members only occasionally comeback.

Initially we did the following:

We ran a couple prize based contests. One for members, and one for sign-ups. That worked alright. We were able to get about 15-20 new members.

We hit up message boards and forums.

Now, we are still on the message boards and forums, but unable to get any new members.

We have considered full page ads with Adbrite, and a few other ideas. The budget is limited, but we can afford to spend a bit.

Anyone have any ideas for gaining new members?

People love free stuff. Not knowing your niche or audience demographics, I would recommend Neverblue for some decent offers. Make sure you read and abide by each offers TOS.

I am using adbrite ads. I am also signed up to neverblue. I am looking for ideas for getting new people to sign up to my site. I am making ok money on adbrite. it atleast pays for hosting, so I am good in that respect.

I would like to double the number of members that I have.

Any ideas?
