Hello

I have been with HG's shared hosting a couple of years. need to switch.

for me, the most important thing is uptime. I cant afford to lose potential sales because of piece of shit service. price is also an issue, I can pay no more than $5/month

I have been doing a lot of research and dont know who to pick. there is no "perfect" host, every host has some negative reviews, that's why it gets so confusing.

Which hosting company do you recommend?

Hostgator is fine. Downtime is expected with any host. Also, if you get downtime and it affects your websites contact their support and they are more than happy to give you credit on your account. You also get what you pay for. Get off shared and go to dedicated and you will have almost 100% uptime unless there is an issue with the datacenter itself.

I'll suggest you Hostripples
$1 Unlimited Web Hosting - Unlimited Space Unlimited Bandwidth

don't buy namecheap

best is certified hosting or hostwinds

digitalocean.com is the best place. Support always online at IRC

SSD + Cloud = FTW

i have host winds my sites are always up check them out

I've been with hostwinds for 3 years and haven't had any downtime. The owner is a member here, and has some Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals going on. Search the forum for his thread, I would highly recommend them.

EDIT: In fact, here is their Cyber Monday thread

Hostgator was best for me but it is still above average. Every host has some downtime.
