Need help

Hi, I am a newbie seoer, and have learnt a lot from this forum. Recently, I am working on a website with difficult keywords by WH. Everything looks fine, and one week before, the ranking started to sink. Today, I found my client put a lot of sitewide links from a penalized website. I think maybe that is the reason. So now, should I remove all the sitewide links or not. If not, do you have any good ideas? Thanks a lot

Is this web is penalized for having spam content, or just by doing black hat SEO? Are you sure it's even penalized?

Yes you will want to remove those links however you should also sit down and have a conversation with your client. Part of working as an SEO is managing expectations and drawing clear lines. If they want you to remove the links, I would charge them for it and explain that your efforts and ultimate success hinge upon their cooperation with you. You won't be able to do much for them if they keep screwing up their own site.

Its like an attorney whose client continues to go out and get arrested. The attorney can only help so much and if a person continues to rack up charges, their situation only gets worse.

My client has several websites on same hosting, and he did a linkwheel. linked 2 websites of them to the website I am working on. But the website I am working now is not on the same hosting. I have checked the websites, all of them are penalized by big G. I have already asked him to remove all the links, and write a reconsideration letter to google. Hope the ranking can recover.

By the way, usually how long it will take to recover the ranking after I remove the spammy links?
