    Hey guys,

    Looking for a little help. I made a autoblog and the niche is monetized with amazon stuff. I have some visitors but i noticed i have alot of searches from the search box and the search box searches my blog not amazon .
    Is there a way to make the search box search amazon with my affiliate id?
    I am using a heatsense theme .
    thanks for any help

    Hi,

    I am not aware of any plugins that make this possible, however if you have the HTML to make it possible there are quite a few plugins that allow you to add HTML to your side bar.

    If that dosent work, what about making it look like a search and when they click it is redirects to the amazon search page and have the link be your affiliate ID?

    Maybe something simple, "Click here to seach all of Amazon"

    there gotta be a way to change the search box itself. just been pretty busy and havent had time to read up on it..so i figured someone here would know a quick fix.

    Something like that should work:
    Code:
    <form method="get" action="http://www.amazon.com/s/">
    <input type="hidden" name="url" value="search-alias=aps" />
    <input type="hidden" name="tag" value="your_aff_id" />
    Search Amazon: <input type="text" name="field-keywords" />
    <input type="submit" name="Go" value="Go" />
    </form>

    Just find in your theme code for search box and replace it with my code.
    Unfortunately i don't know in which file it is in your theme.

    This code will put on your page simple small input field. But if you use it (you will try search any term using it) it will show you AMAZON search results site with your AFF ID in url.
    If it still not working end me PM with download link to your theme - i'll check where you have to place code.

    Im going to guess he is looking to have the search results directly on his wordpress site as opposed to Amazon.

    That what you looking to do?

    thanks but is there a way to make it work for the first search box.
    Now its working ike this with your code
    if someone visits my blog and inputs in the search box, it will now open a page to a second search box and they have to enter info again

    that would be nice also, but no that was what i was talking about. Right now the search box only searches the blog. If the item searched isnt in a post then it it says No Search Results for " "
    i want it to search amazon and of course add my aff id. The code he gave me i put in it and just brings up another search box so the user has to do it 2times..most people wouldnt

    You pasted this code in WRONG place!!!
    search.php it's template file for search results, and you want to change only search box code.

    One more time - send mi link to your theme - i'll tell you what you have to edit

    i got it working this morning..thanks
    heatmap theme has an option to install an adsense search code..so instead i put your amazon code there and now it works. it now searches amazon.
    Now i only hope the affiliate id works so i get credit if there are any sales
    thanks again for your help
