So I started a blog: "https://formalgamers.blogspot.com/" with Blogger and I like how it turned out, all I did was find a free template and then played around with the code and made my own logo.

I did some reading on SEO and decided to move to Wordpress, started a free user but now stuck with the design, the free themes are not what I am looking for, and even if they were I can't change anything !! no way to change the code. my options are stupid (Title, logo -_-)

Am I missing something or is this how its supposed to be?

You need to get a paid hosting, a domain name and install Wordpress. Only then can you modify whatever you want.

Well then, I think I'll stick to Blogger till I am sure this is what I want to do.

Thanks for your reply :)

Sorry but I don't know what you're talking about. Who are "they"?

Not yet, I am planning on starting for 0$, If I see that I am making a progress and can keep up with this I'll get a domain.
Codes. When you buy a domain you'd find wordpress easier

Yeah, but its kinda expensive for someone starting out.

Once my blog is up and running I will take things up, get to WP and buy a domain

Not true.. there are a ton of free hosting available too.. sure they have storage limitations but for someone starting out a free hosting and a free domain can be more than sufficient. And yeah blogger is pretty good but wordpress is your call.. with the amount of plugins there are wordpress can be the best option

I thought plugins require the business pack that goes for 24$/month and that's ALOT for me

Spoiler don't tell about this to anybody.. pls don't ever..ever.. use this shit site called wordpress.com it is the worst site for making wordpress websites. Those who actually pay for it are completely noobs. Get a custom hosting paid or free. Search for wordpress plugins. Many plugins are free and can be easily installed on wordpress, just search how to install plugin on wordpress, not all are free but only require a one time payment. But honestly free plugins are sufficient for starters.
The plugins offered for 24$/month are just shit. Since wordpress stuff is just one time payment, with free lifetime updates

Free domain yes, though people might think it as spammy. I won't recommend free hosting. Most just have tricks up their sleeve

Not true bro 000webhost is truly an amazing option, i installed jetpack on site to get stats when site goes down. And literally speaking i get a message in 2-3 days that site has been down for like 5 mins.. pretty good for free. Yeah free domain looks spammy but good for starters

If it's a hobby, good thing, if its professional don't do it. But that's my take on it, and to each his/her own.

Hehe sure happened to me a few years ago when i was a complete noob. Yes we will use wordpress but not wordpress.com

Wordpress is free but not wordpress.com

Wordpress can be easily installed on a host, most have autoinstallers though. Wordpress.com is a host itself.

Many things on wordpress is free themes and plugins and you have full freedom to customize anything. But wordpress.com has extremely limited customisation, they have that stupid pack for lots of money where you will only get very limited themes and plugins.

So get a hosting.. see if they have autoinstaller, if yes then install with it. If not then search for a tutorial.

Sure thing bro.. good trick would be to earn some quick money with free stuff. Then get paid domain then paid hosting
