Need help with updating to new wordpress update

Hello I'm having issues with updating to the latest wordpress update 3.9 . It is not letting me because i keep getting errors like this could not copy wordpress/wp-includes/user.php and it also said it with themes any suggestions? Thank you!

If I had to guess I would say that your FTP user does not have permissions to change that folder. I only usually get that problem when I create a superuser in linux and forget to adjust his permissions leaving him as the default 500 and not changing him to 0:0 in the /etc/passwd file. upload as the FTP user that has permissions and you should be able to overwrite.
