Need help with this domain

I came across expired domain that is available for registration
the domain was registered back in 2005 and PR3 with 8k+ indexed pages in google (but no cache for them :s)

Is it worth registering? can I keep the PR and domain age authority??

You're saying it's available for registration, correct?

I assume that means it was expired, went to the aftermarket, and then became available because no-one picked it up.

That would count as a drop. Dropped domains have a high chance of losing their PR, age, etc. The reason is, when you register it now... it will show a re-registration record in the registry.

The record will tell Google that the domain went through the whole process and was newly registered. For which in turn Google will count it as a new owner (even if it wasn't).

Technically speaking, a new owner shouldn't be created with the PR/Age of the site so Google will reset all those factors once they pick it up.

That may or may not affect the Google cache/index immediately though.

Buy it before it drops.

You can buy those domains before they drop from auctions, like:

auctions.godaddy.com
snapnames.com
namejet.com


If you need an engine to search through all of them you can use:

expireddomains.net
dropday.com

if you build a new site on it you will probably loose the pr and authority and as you said there is no cache on the web so it means you have to build a new site on it

I guess it would still be better to register this domain as compared to a fully fresh registration. There would be a chance of SOME authority unlike the fresh reg. Worth a shot I must say.

It's worth a shot as long as you don't overinvest in it. Good chance it won't be of any great use to you
