hello BHW, i'm new to all this website stuff. My problem is i recently bought a hosting plan and put the name servers from it into the domains nameservers settings. also i added the i.p address of the hosting company in the zone file i believe. now i was told it'll take up to 48 hours. it's has almost been 48. Am i doing something wrong? every time i type in the webpage this is what pops up instead of website layout. sorry, im new to this.

This means that the nameserver settings are fine and your web server is responding to requests. However, the folder where the files of your website are supposed to be is empty. You need to upload your website to the server before you can see anything else on that page. If you want some help, PM me and I'll see what can be done.

seems name servers have propagated.
all you need to do is navigate to public html folder and upload all your website files there (assuming you have a html website)

If you have a wordpress or CMS based websites, you will have to follow different steps.

if it still doesnt help, let me know I would help you with that.

Looks like everything's fine mate. You need to migrate your files (and database, if any) to your new server. What kind of website did you have? HTML? WP? Other?

thanks guys. not sure what type of website really im using godaddy's website builder but looking to use wordpress since i heard itll be easier for me to personally update instead of always running to a professional i guess.

Oh sorry, I thought you were changing web hosts, but it looks like it's your very first time :)

There are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how to install WordPress. You can do it manually (5 minutes) or use Fantastico or Softaculous (even faster, 1 minute!).

Let me know if you need help, I can do it for you :)

EDIT: If you are on GoDaddy, just follow these instructions: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/834/installing-wordpress-on-your-hosting-account
