Need help with getting reputation

Hi all,

I'll get right to the point. I'm a software engineer that is pretty good at what he does for other people (i.e. work). I want to now get into the business of doing my own stuff and getting my name out there so that I can possibly JV with people so i can make proper money. I don't want to make websites, android apps or anything like that for free in order to gain reputation as it's time consuming to create good software. Is there any other way other than offering free services that I could get my name out there so that people can trust me?

I've created a couple of apps just for myself that I suppose I could use to promote myself but most of the stuff I have created has been for a company.

Yeah, it's hard to build a portfolio when you have nothing except company projects. I suggest you build yourself an awesome website, stating how many years of experience you have, all your skills and stuff.

And not a cheezy ass website. It needs to have great graphics and a beautiful logo. People need to see you're a pro.

And then, you start contacting companies to sell your services. When you meet them, you can actually show your portfolio of stuff made for the company. They'll understand you're talented.

I've found the best way is to build a good rep on all the forums. Give excellent customer service and then the word spreads. Reach out to some of the big affiliates on JVZoo / ClickBank etc and ask them if they would be interested in JV'ing with you. That's what I am in the process of doing with our new product Index Nuke. Been a slow start but now have some great affiliates on-board.

Exactly... Agreed

So just have a nice looking website rather than have some good functionality within it? My area of expertise is back end websites rather than the front end. Creating a website for myself wouldn't show how good I am at functionality though.

Any more advice?

It doesn't matter. In this case, the website is just a vehicle to tell your story.

Example: I'm not in the printing industry, but believe me, my business card looks awesome
