My business website (health services) is 2 years old and is doing well on google organic rankings.

I have just found a domain name for sale that exactly matches my ideal keyword for Google search and has high search volume.

Will a 301 redirect of this new domain to my existing website domain help improve my google rankings?

I prefer to keep my current website domain name in place because it matches my business name but want to find a way to use this new domain.

All ideas appreciated.

I wouldn't do it in the middle of the Google March update that is currently in effect.

Not to go into too much detail, that's my opinion.

If your site is somehow able to still maintain its ranking during these turbulent updates, it'll be risky to make drastic moves like 301-ing a domain you're not sure of it's history or power. That a domain name matches your keyword isn't the only reason to redirect. Especially when your site is ranking for said keyword the way it is .

If you must have the domain, you could create an adjacent website and see how it goes on its own.

no, the whole trick about EMDs is to trick google to mistaken a keyword over a brand, which is why it doesn't work in all cases,
so, as long as there's no website built on top of the EMD it's completely useless, the same is partially true for any kewyrods with decent competition
