ok, so i have a vps with whm/cpanel installed. i added my domain.com as a subdomain in cpanel. i then went to cpanel>redirects and added a redirect from my domain.com to my affiliate link, and i selected www? matching so that both www.domain.com and domain.com would be redirected to the affiliate link.

Unfortunately, only domain.com is being redirected. www.domain.com does not load anything. has anybody experienced this problem. i searched google but it seems as though this usually just works.

someone will probably mention .htaccess, but since this is only a redirect and not an actual website i don't think that .htaccess comes into play here (i could be wrong).

there was a "www IN CNAME domain.com" record, i removed it and it made no difference.

I checked with my vps company and since i have an unmanaged vps they can't assist me.

    any thoughts are appreciated.

try the option with only www and maybe unselect wild card if it's not yet

i finally got it figured out. it was a dns issue. i needed to add a dns record from the vps control panel, then add the subdomain & redirect via cpanel.

i was having issues because i was trying to modify the dns records from within cpanel & whm and that was screwing me up for some reason.
