I’m about to start an iGaming/casino affiliate site, and I’d like to understand how SEO works in this niche.

What are the main things I should focus on when starting out? Any tips, strategies, or common mistakes to avoid would be really helpful.

iGaming SEO is competitive, so I’d get the foundation right first.
  1. Start with long-tail casino/bonus keywords instead of chasing huge terms.
  2. Build topical clusters around each operator, game and bonus type.
  3. Focus on niche-relevant backlinks rather than just high-DR links.

I would pay close attention to the GEO and competition before building anything. The content, regulations and keyword opportunities can vary a lot by market, so choosing the right one early can save a lot of time.

Im targeting indian market
 
Since you’re targeting India, I’d go more specific rather than broad “online casino” terms.
  1. Build pages around India-specific games/operators
  2. Separate Hindi/English and regional search intent
  3. Study the top Indian SERPs first — especially their content gaps and backlink sources.
India is a market I understand well, so this angle gets good results.
 
If iGaming and casino is your idea, you need to be both smart aand diligent. And yes, just don't go behind GEO, target SEO equally. And be very very very thorough with the content. That will make your or break you considering the competition is enormous. Better focus on quality and research. Target socials as well. Not sure if reddit would help.
 
I’d focus on the site structure first, especially internal linking between the supporting pages and money pages. For a new site, I’d also track the important pages separately instead of looking only at overall rankings.

In terms of India, there will be need to consider the purpose of search as well as the language . this is becuz the website structure nd its content will be the basis of this.
 
targeting india for casino affiliate is straight up brutal these days. forget broad keywords or u will just burn cash. focus on local stuff like specific card games people actually search for, and mix up english with regional languages if u want a real shot against the big dogs.

Reddit helps as well, but he needs reputable accounts with lots of karma in order to promote his casino offers.
 
Going after terms like best online casino on a fresh domain is just burning cash, because legacy affiliates have had those spots locked down for a decade. You will get way more traction going after uncompetitive long tail angles, like withdrawal speeds or local payment quirks for a specific geo. Google eats generic comparison tables alive these days, so you need actual proof of testing and verifiable author profiles on the site. If the content reads like every other boilerplate affiliate template, throwing expensive links at it is just postponing the eventual penalty.

Casino SEO is one of the toughest niches in search, but starting small with a clean structure gives you a massive advantage over competitors relying on outdated spam.
