Need help to not Mess Up a Website Refresh

I am updating a company website - we have over 600 blog posts stretching back to 2007. We are trying to stay in budget with the developer and so must cut some blog posts out. I'm looking at a budget that only allows us to bring about 200 over. So I am redirecting all the upcoming event posts that are outdated and also redirecting all posts that have garnered fewer than 100 visits in the past five years.

My question is - am I screwing this up? Will this kill us?
I'd appreciate any suggestions - I really don't want to mess this up.
