I have just launched an Acne Treatment related website. Fully functional with around 10 articles, all articles are original. I haven't done anything till now to promote the site.

Can anyone suggest what are the best and cheap ways to get traffic on to the site?

pretty basic is creating facebook page and twitter account for your website, gathering fans/followers and sharing/tweeting your posts.

After that, you can get visitors from Google (either paid or "free"), you can also purchase banners on related sites, you can pay advertising on mailing lists, ... There are unlimited options, it all depends how much you are willing to invest.

    Here's what I'd do:

    • Create 10 videos based on EACH article. Make sure each video has a link back to your site.
    • Upload each video to YouTube with a keyword optimized title & description.
    • Spin every article you uploaded & start posting them to article directories. However, there is a right and wrong way to spin content. To spin it properly, you want to hand-write it. It takes a lot longer, but it's well worth it. You'll want to re-write each sentence (where it makes sense) 2 times on your article so you have 3 options. Now, even before doing any advanced techniques (like changing up the resource box link text and etc.) you're going to spin each article at about 65% uniqueness at worst. Spin each article 5-10 times and get to submitting them to article directories. This is gonna give you 50 65%+ unique articles to post at 50 different sites. You're going to want to evenly space these submissions out over the course of 14 days PER spun article. Honestly, I'd recommend doing this one article at a time, while still posting new ones. Eventually you'll catch up, and as soon as you post something new on your site you'll need to spin it and submit it.
    • Write a 3-5 sentence resource box for the article sites. Check out competitor articles for ideas.
    • Spin that resource box with 5 different links to your site [same link, different text]
    • Spin that resource box with 2 more sentences for every sentence. This gives you 15 different anchor texts. People start thinking that article directories are great and that it gets lots and lots of visitors. Well, it gets some, but article sites aren't that popular to your average browser, especially if they aren't highly ranked. The real point of posting on article directories is that if they're indexed, the search engines love them. And they'll crawl them and your articles all day long. More spiders crawling your link in more areas = more PR for you = higher search engine ranking = more organic traffic
    • For every "Web 2.0" article directory that allows a video or an image, embed one of the videos you've made. If more than one would make sense with an article.
    • Post the videos with your articles on your website or as standalone content.

On another note, you could focus on Social Media. This isn't worth it if you don't plan on staying in the niche for a long time:
    • Make a facebook page
    • Collect testimonials & before and after pictures
    • Post to your page once a day -- article snips that link to your blog, your youtube videos, dramatic acne news (such as FDA WARNS AGAINST THIS BRAND or whatever) that spurs discussion etc
    • Encourage people to post their before and after photos with specific products as well as reviews. If you can get an affiliation with these offers great. If not, that's OK. Let your fans talk about things they aren't buying from you, too.
    • Comment on your fans questions & etc
    • Post and respond to people on other related FB pages with quality info while posting as your fan page.
    • Keep updating your blog, at least twice a month, and always post when you update.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Comment on blogs that deal with this niche. Or get onto forums that deal with skincare, health and beauty. Add your links to your facebook page, tweet about it, pin it to pinterest.

Dude skip all that and just introduce your site to some pimple-faced teens who need this info. All they do is chat all day anyways, so get it in the right hands and your site can go viral!

There isn't much that I can offer that has already been said. The best advice I can offer you is set aside some time to look for new keywords in Google keyword tool.
Then with each one create a new article with no more than 4% keyword density.
Find a picture and make sure it has the alt="keyword".
    Bold your keyword once.
    Use h1 tag.
    Insert tags as keywords
    Create new category as keywords.

    Social Network advice:
In each article create a "secret tip" to help remove acne. Then use One press social locker and lock the content. Set up onepress so they like your facebook fan page.

    1. Update XML Sitemap. My Drupal site has an automatic XML Sitemap module installed. XML is a programming language, similar to HTML, that search engines like Google and Bing can read. The XML Sitemap is used to provide the search engine your website's complete content and directory structure, and to communicate changes any time there's a new piece of content. My module will update itself regularly, but as soon as I've published a new post I go ahead and run the "cron" job that will update that sitemap, ensuring that Google gets a notification of my new content to be spidered right away. There are several similar plugins for WordPress.
    2. Like the post. Somewhere on every blog post, you should have buttons to help readers share your content to social networks. If possible, include widgets for the more popular platforms so that it's easy to provide social signals, and you present visual evidence of popularity. First up is Facebook with a button to Like the post. This doesn't post an update to your feed, but it will place the post in your Likes box on Facebook for your personal profile.
    3. +1 the post. Similarly, we need to provide Google+ with a social signal. When my readers come to my blog, I want them to see that there's activity. It's like a party where you show up and there's already people there having a good time. No one wants to be the first person there!
    4. Share to Google+. Using the same +1 button, if I leave my mouse hovered over it, a dialogue box comes up that will let me post an update to Google+ and share my new blog. The update will automatically include the title, image and description, so all I need to do is add some commentary. This is where you need to be creative and devote some more time. First, it's important that you introduce your article. Explain a little what it is about or why someone would be interested, and then try to start a discussion by asking related questions. Second, take advantage of Google's formatting options and hashtags to make your post look good and be more easily found.
    5. Share to LinkedIn and LinkedIn Groups. Most LinkedIn Share widgets will give you a dialogue box that lets you simultaneously post a status update as well as Group posts. Just as with Google+, the blog will be posted as a title, image and description, but you still want to add that introduction. It can be the same or similar to what you used on Google+. A lot depends on the kinds of conversations you have on one network or the other. Make sure that you're only sharing quality content with appropriate groups, and if you need to adjust the commentary for specific groups so that it creates a better discussion starter, share to those groups separately.

First you have to promote your website. To promote you can use any social networking sites like face book, twitter etc.Next you can use SEO techniques to increase / improve the visibility of your website in search engine result page. For this you can use on page and off page optimization techniques.you can also use ppc (pay per click) to get traffic.
