Hello so I just recently learn about seo and about backlinks. Its kinda confusing me though so if anyone could help that would be great ^__^! I'm confused on how to make a backlink is it just linking a word or phrase in a sentence that links back to your blog? Also what are all these programs for like scrapebox and the ones being sold on here.

You don't need programs, you're new, start building links manualy, after some time you will figure things out. Just rad forum, Google the fuck out of it and you'll be good.

Scrapebox is one of the best pieces of software that would be helpful to pick up early on.
To add a bit of what Seoways said - backlink is a created link to your website by creating articles with the niche keywords and inside that article to be mentioned the direct link to your website - like this the Goggle "should" index your link and directed to the requested niche. But from that to the reality is a long road. I'm able to help you more if you're really interested.

Do read a bunch before you try anything on your main site. Looks like you're just starting out, so you gotta be patient and learn your stuff before jumping in head first. As others pointed out, read lots and you can ask questions here.
