Need help getting dj best friend to the top

Hi BHW, this is my first post, I've been looking at this for years but only been taking in the knowledge. I have a friend who is very talented at music production and is trying to get himself heard. He's already got 10+ songs and has equipment and studio, has been noticed a lot on soundcloud but nothing massive.

I thought it would be a good idea to create a website and upload all his music there and maybe a blog during his producing.

Just wanted to know if this was a good idea and if anybody has any tips when starting first website. I want to make it good because he has the talent he just needs a platform.

Then after that a website.

And remember that he should make some live recordings from gig and upload them to Soundcloud, update his Facebook with gig schedules and add some nice pics from behind the decks etc. Anything to break the dullness of his online profile.

I still occasionally do DJing, though my dear beloved Technics SL-1200 MK2s are still in Finland, I don't have the space here to play with them to an extent that they deserve :/ I do have a controller as a substitute though, but it doesn't feel the same as my good old turntables and mixer.

And yes, I have turned this BHW thread into a DJF (DJ Forums) thread #smartadvertising
 
Upload the songs to YouTube and promote the videos in social media. Maybe ask for some YouTube publisher channel to publish your song. Then make a website and have social media links and general information about the artist there.
 
What a coincidence, one of my very good buddies was just begging me to help promote him. A problem with his stuff.. He just isn't any good. HAHA
 
Brilliant thanks for the information. Never heard of beat port so will look into that. Should I use any BH methods to generate traffic at any point or is it risky with it being something we actually care about long term. Just wondering whether an initial push would help or just set alarms off.
 
I recommend starting of with really solid well produced tracks then once your happy with them upload them to soundcloud and youtube.After that upload them on to beatport or trackitdown you will be able to sell your tracks then. Finally do alot of spamming on social networks to get your tracks out there
