Alright so I've read a few guides on email marketing and I've decided I would try it out and see how it goes. I've bought the one month trial on aweber, found a good product on clickbank to promote, however I need help on building a list so I can even send them an offer.

Here is how I plan on building it, I just don't know how to start. Lets say I'm working in the 'how to train your dog niche' (I'm not), my plan involves me sending out a tri-weekly (three times a week) newsletter which gives you tips on how to train your dog. Then once a week or so I'll send them a clickbank offer which has a dog training kit in it or something...

Now I just plan on replacing the whole dog thing with my niche. However how do I even get people to sign up for 'the dog training newsletter' in the first place?

I've heard about 90secondsqueeze page and I've looked into that however is that website for your clickbank offer or for your free newsletter?

I'm new to this so everything will help, thanks!

well you need traffic to build your list, same as you need traffic for anything to make money.

you build your list from your Website, Adwords, Facebook Ads

I've read that it cost $40 for 100 clicks on a solo ad. Let's say that I got half of those people to sign up for my newsletter and 2 people bought the clickbank product. I would make around $10 total profit. Is this realistic or is it expected that more people will buy it?

I have just jumped into email marketing myself. I'll explain how I am doing it atm.

I have a Squeeze page built to my niche. If people are interested in the free info I am advertising I require them to opt-in via aWeber form. I continue to compile my list and I send out informational emails 2 times a week to keep them interested and build a relationship (Until I get to around 1000-2000 subscribers - then I am able to sell solo ads or push traffic toward a CB Product).

You can typically expect between 3-5% of people to actually open your email - unless of course you have a really responsive list. It takes time to build this list to see the results(unless of course you have $ to spend on solos).

    So basically:
-Create Squeeze page for your Niche
-Build List via opt-in for Free Offers or Solo Ads, FB Ads, Google Ads, Bing Ads
-Build relationship with your list by giving them quality emails to start out
-When comfortable number of subscribers is reached - Broadcast your clickbank products within same niche.

You can also make extra money by selling Solo's with other people within your niche.

Excellent news to hear you are starting out in the world of Email Marketing.

Phase 1 - Getting targetted traffic

    Essentially you have two choices:

1). Grow your list organically from SEO, blog articles etc.
    or,
2). Use ads, cpa, ppc, media networks to "buy" targetted traffic.

Of course you could do a bit of both. I've had huge success using my Micro Niche Sites to build targeted mailing lists (as well as Adsense revenue) and its essentially free / pays-for-itself.

Based on your example (dog training niche) I would set-up a MNS website that's got a handful of short but informative articles totally on that niche. I'd do research to find related keywords, terms, searches that are relevant to that niche and use that as a guide as to what articles to write/add next.

Spend a lot of time making the site look professional, a lot like say how eHow.com layout their sites. Perfect example (related niche article, and layout pushing more relevant content): http://www.ehow.com/info_12245694_work-fearaggressive-dog.html

Now you've got a site people won't barf at the sight of, you can move on...

Phase 2 - Turning eyeballs into subscribers

People value their email address, its a personal connection, they have to "trust" you with it. What is needed is a value-exchange .. i.e. "what do I get if I give you my email address?". While you might have some success with a simple "Sign-up to our newsletter" you will likely get more subscribers by giving them something.

In my opinion giving them some form of "information product" or "ebook" is the best lure. Hop onto somewhere like GraphicRiver (http://graphicriver.net/) and find a niche-relevant template. Sure it might set you back $5 or so but its worth it to invest in your "brand". Use your new found template and create a pretty 4 page PDF guide titled something like "Everything you need to know about Dog Training". Use nice big fonts, make it look a little sexy, follow some of the ideas on presentation from SlidesThatRock (http://slidesthatrock.com/).

Test different ways / colours for your Call to Action, does it work as a popup? how about a corner-tab widget? or a giant yellow button? Try different methods and see what works.

    Phase 3 - Holy sh!t, you've got subscribers!!

Now you can get down to the important part, you've attracted a list of people with a niche interest. It is important to nurture that list because it's where you're going to get your income. Do it badly (too many spam reports) and you'll be wasting all the effort.

    - Use an autoresponder with a pre-canned number of messages to introduce new subscribers to your list
    - Set yourself a writing schedule, weekly newsletter is good .. too frequently can be annoying.
    - When you start getting conversions, segment your list into people-who-bought, and people-who-didnt

Last but not least, if you want some clues or ideas on what to try .. set up a GMail account and add it to some lists related to your niche. See what your competitors do well or badly and take advantage of it!!

Best of luck, this method quickly builds targeted mailing lists with subscribers that will listen to what you have to say (and sell). Far better than buying scraped email lists full of old emails and spam traps!!
