Need Help DSL Line

Don't know if this is the right section? If it isn't please move. I have been renting DSL lines for the past few months for posting on CL. I am wanting to get my own DSL line but I am not understanding how I would change the ip? Can anybody help me on this topic? I have noticed that the DSL lines I have rented that most have a program to change ip. Would I need a program? Is it a modem I can use what is it I can do/use to change ip? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You shouldn't need a program, as most DSL lines use dynamic IP's. All you'd have to do is log in to the modem and restart it (assuming that the modem has that option). Then you should be assigned a new IP, simple as that.

turn the modem off then on it again, that should be the same with reconnecting. If that is a hassle, get into the modem's setting page and disconnect then connect again. Wrong section btw.

what kind of modem do you have?
