Need Help Design, Will Pay If Needed

So I'm going to build a (column) site, where people can write articles and leave a their website as a source, post links, etc...
Similar sites would be http://bleacherreport.com/ and http://my.nowpublic.com/

So I need help setting up a site (where people would need to sign up and for approval), also, I would be in charge of the project, I'll submit the idea and how I want it to be done and you will put it into works.

What necessary plug-ins, widgets, etc is needed? And let me know how much you charge? Also, give some free advice....lol

I think the main question is, what software are these sites using?

Wordpress was built just for this. We'd want to find a nice magazine style theme and customize, customize, customize! I can probably set something like this up for $250-500 depending on the level of customizations we decide on. I'm a branding guy and an expert at frontend customization so I can make it look however you want (and I mean that quite literally). Sometimes you can get an almost perfect fit out of the box with the right theme. That's where I would start. ThemeForest.com has a great selection and they even have an entire category dedicated to just magazine style themes. Check them out and let me know what you think fits your style. I'd be more than happy to give more specific recommendations from there.
