Just opened an email with a virus attached in the email. Need some advice on how to get rid of it. Looks like Trojan virus. I can log into my email account but the emails will not open. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: Just found out that the virus is called crypto locker. It encrypts your files and will only de-crypt if you pay a ransom fee of $300. Anyone familiar with it. I tried malware bytes but no luck.

did you try with any of the antivirus/antimalware programs?

Run Malwarebytes and see what it comes up with. If you are locked out of your av software, restart in "safe" mode and then scan using MB or your favorite av/anti-spyware program.

And if your system tries to act funny then just remove the drive and scan it separately!

Use any antivirus program like Comodo Antivirus (it's free) and also Malwarebytes (also free) if that doesn't get it alone.

If all else fails, reformat the computer.

Bonus: Dual-install Linux and Windows. Use Windows only when needed.

I used to work for a fortune 500 company years ago dealing with virus and spyware. if you want to add me to skype I can remove it for you using teamviewer. I will do it for free
