Need help building up rank on my new website

Hi eveyone, i've just finished a new website with travel related content in a specific area, what i would like to ask is: what is the best way to build up some google rank? Right now, there are 3 main websites that operate this product and i believe my website is better than theirs, what i need is to get the same rank as theirs in order to compete with them.

I've been reading a lot of threads in the forums, i've found so many different things but i'm still not sure what i should be doing right now. Any support or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Start with your onpage SEO first and go for OFF PAGE SEO. If you want to know what are these things then better do some google stuffs.

Write 5 unique and quality articles ( 350 words plus ) related on your niche or keywords and create some quality backlinks to your money site. Use wordpress, tumblr, hubpages, blogspot etc ( these web 2.0s get indexed faster )

Signup for onlywire free 5 days account and add 15-20s social bookmarking accounts. When you are done submitting articles to your web 2.0 share them using your onlywire account. This will help your sites gets indexed faster. Tweet, share on fb .. the url of your site.

Add Google analytic and google webmaster tools to your site. Once the web 2.0s tiers gets indexed you will see rise in SERP.

It sounds to me like you have no SEO experience.

As mindlesswizard suggests you need to split your ranking efforts into two main strategies - on-page and off-page.

If you search both those terms in the search bar you'll find tonnes of threads with advice.

I'm using wordpress platform for my website, i did all the meta descriptions and titles for every single product page. I'm already using google analytics and webmaster tools and so far (in 5 days) i got 3 different referrals on google: 16th, 32nd and 46th.

I did post one some travel blogs and directories. I am quite newbie to SEO, i would say i'm totally unexperienced, but i do my research and i'm a fast learner. I'm looking for some help or guidelines/tutorials to get me going in this.

Mindlesswizer, you said to create 5 unique quality articles. Where should i create them? In my website? My website has 50+ pages with unique content and information about it's destination. It also has unique products that no other website in the area has. Is this what you mean? How to i get those backlinks? I submit those pages to wordpress/tumblr/hubpages/etc?

Error, Error, Error

You need plenty of 500+ word articles after you select your keywords.
After that you can start by linking into web 2.0 sites with one unique article on
each web 2.0 like Squidoo.
