Need Help Building Up A Facebook Page

Hey guys,

I created a blog about a month ago and filling it up with awesome content, 100% unique. I haven't done much on the SEO part because these articles take a while to make and I'm putting a lot of effort on them, therefore I don't have much content (12-20 articles so far).

Anyway, the point is that I wanna start building up social presence and every time I publish an article, I wanna share it on my Facebook page. I've never been good with Facebook and, I must say, it's kind of my weakness. I decided to create a Facebook page but I really don't know what to do. I've visited other sites around my niche but they're kind of sloppy.

Are there any tips that you guys can give me as far as building up a Facebook page?

I would really appreciate any type of suggestions.

You didn't mention what platform your blog was built on (I assume Wordpress) but you do get plugins for Joomla and Wordpress whereby all your blog posts on your website automatically
stream to your Facebook page - so that is one suggestion.

I personally am not a big fan of Facebook I prefer Twitter (it feels more alive) but go on Twitter and see what your competition is doing on Twitter perhaps that could give you some ideas
of what your competition is doing (the successful ones) - second suggestion.

Most people are visual and have a short attention span, so make sure that why, who and what you do is made clear on the Facebook page, you call it the "blink test", visitors should know within 4 seconds what you are all about, so try graphics in your Facebook page's cover image - third suggestion.

And lastly decide on a persona and make your personality work for you, its all about story telling, so discuss don't sell (sales is a side effect), marketing is based on building relationships - last suggestion.

why dont you write your blog url and fb page url, it would be better if we can see and give recommendations if any.

Yeah, I'm using Wordpress. I've been studying my competition's fb pages in more detail and also started with twitter. You're right about the persona, just need to have more likes to check on the average user. Thanks for the advice!

First thing, do you have a link to your Facebook page from your blog? Do you have the like button hooked up with all of the articles, so that people can like your content through Facebook even when they are on your blog?

Visually, your Facebook page should draw people in just like a website. You should have a header image that fits the scale and looks nice. You should be posting your articles on the Facebook page at the times of day when your audience is most active. I would also suggest including relevant pictures (obtainable through Creative Commons if you're worried about copyright issues) with your link, because the picture is what's going to pull the user in. If your content is mentioning other businesses or people, you should make sure that you are directing the post to them as well, so that they know it is out there.

Ultimately, if you focus on quality, people will share, comment on, and like your content, and the growth will happen organically.
