Hi, to all. I am in need of help because I'm getting mixed messages from many sources, including the YT support team themselves.
My YT channel was recently monetized. When I went through that whole process, I linked my channel to an older Adsense account that I had from many years ago. Unfortunately, I forgot that it was a business account, not personal.
As that business is no longer operating, and it has nothing to do with my current channel (nor can I verify any of the dated information), I'd like to close that Adsense account and open a new PERSONAL account under my name, which I can then link to my YT channel...and I can easily verify. However, I've never done this before, and if I perform one misstep, I don't want to jeopardize being locked out of Adsense, having my monetization efforts be lost, etc. Here are my questions...
*Do I have to close the old Adsense account before creating a new one, or can I have two concurrently? When I chatted with YT support, they told me the following, which is confusing: "You don't need to remove yourself in the program, you just need to create a new AdSense account and reactivate the old one."
*If I do open a new Adsense account, can I use the same email that I registered with on the old one, or must I use a different email address?
*YT support told me that I must wait 32 days before linking my channel to a new Adsense account. Is this correct? I thought there was a way to simply edit/change that via my settings in YT studio.
If anyone has done this before and can offer any help, I'd greatly appreciate it. I worked REALLY hard to get monetized, and this situation has sunk me into a depression due to the complexity involved.
