Check out Perry Mashall's Definitive Guide to Google Adwords. One of the most comprehensive out there.

Google offers an awesome training program. It takes about an hour, and you receive "adwords certification." It shows you the ins and outs of the software, and give you tips to lower costs and increase quality score. Also if you're in the US or Canada, try and join Google Engage; they send you a ton of free coupons. Hope that helps.

I would definetely reccomend Perry's guide.
However it is a bit much to read!
