Need free Forum software, please advice.

I need to ad a forum to my website, i see there is a lot off free forum software, wich one do you bhw members advice?

phpBB if you don't mind getting your hands dirty with code, lots of code edits for applying mods. Unless they have simplified it recently of course.
phpBB is a fully functional, complicated but great free forum, you just have to keep on top of the spambots and apply good enough prevention.

SMF for simplicity although plugins can be a pain because when the core is upgraded it takes ages for the plugins to be upgraded so they work on the new software.
