Need expert advice on Ebay holding period

Hey there, I was just given an aged ebay account from a relative of mine. The account is aged and has had around 650 sells between 2008-2010 however has been inactive ever since. I know ebay makes new sellers wait a while to receive their funds after making a sell however I don't have thousands of dollars to be able to fulfill orders until then. Do you think I should be good considering the account has had sales in the past or it simply just too old? I really need to know what to expect and I don't wanna contact ebay about it. Should I make a store or anything to decrease my chances?

Edit: This is a dropshipping store by the way.

Usually 14 days if the account has been inactive. If after the 14 days the trackings are all showing as delivered and no disputes from customers they will release funds. Be careful dropshipping on eBay, they aren't very welcoming to dropshipping and actually have some policies in place against it.

Any way I could escalate it possibly through identity verifications? 48 hours hold I could deal with but any longer than that no. Should I just call them and try to work something out and tell them I'm not gonna have the funds?
 
I can't remember, I think I got mine lifted after giving government ID but I'm pretty sure I got a second hold later on as well that I just had to wait out. This was an 8 year old account.
 
Anyone else know anything? Does amazon do the same thing?
 
You can’t drop ship Chinese crap on Amazon. You’ll have to set up a private label company and register a trademark, repackage / brand whatever products you’re selling and then list them on Amazon. This is after you’ve done a LOT of product research to find one that doesn’t have insane competition as well as many other criteria.

Why can’t you just sell till a hold is placed and then put your eBay on time off so no new orders come in while you wait out the hold. Once you complete the hold it’s mostly smooth sailing. Seems like there’s more to this than you’re letting on.

I'm not gonna have thousands of dollars to pay the dropshippers which is what I said. I could do that but if the customer complains which there's a 99.9% chance they will if the hold is long enough, then I'm screwed. I thought about starting out just selling cheap shit that way they'd be less likely to hold but I just don't have the time to gamble on this shit.
 
Which is why I said you can put the account on time off to not take in any new sales while on hold. Your account will be restricted WAY before you’re selling more than $1000 in a 48 hour period.

I was planning on selling rare cell phones or maybe some other unique item, so I could make sales pretty quick. I guess I could do that, my main concern now though is they don't allow the type of dropshipping I'm doing so I'm going to have to do blind dropshipping and I'm also worried about them holding once I do start making 1000+
 
If you do anything against their TOS you don’t need to worry about being put on hold because you’ll receive an MC-011 instead. They have been known to uphold bans even on dropshippers who are within guidelines, they don’t like it as a business practice.
