Need Expert advice on blogging

Hello,

I have set a blog where in I comment on whatever comes in on my mind(Generic blog just like shoutmeloud.com).I've been inactive in about a year or so... The domain I'm using is generic in nature not sort of EMD.

I would like to resume active blogging. I need expert advice from bloggers here , Shall I resume with existing pattern or do I concentrate on a specific niche , since I have read in several threads that adsense earnings have taken a serious dip, so that I can resume up with some affiliate sales(I have just started working on it in past 2 months

)

Yes, you may resume the things. But make sure that you have updated your old content and also add some informative post there. It will take some time but soon your blog will return to life. Hope this will help you.

just add relevant new content .

as Google index will index the new content

Yeah.. already started optimizing the existing content... plan to add new content as well

It is better to use thematic content, rather than write horrible. I think you can restore everything.

I definitely recommend picking a niche and work on building credibility there. So much of the blogging world is about building trust and being a dependable voice. People want consistent content in a specific category from you. I think it's in our DNA to know that someone can't be an expert at everything.

Okay... But what do I do about current posts ? Some of them are ranked on page 1 and dance between tops 5 positions. Also, do I need to take care of niches from monetization prospective from now it self ie affiliate or adsense or equivalent..

You have to update u r content n u r good to go u can include Adsense affiliate links plus CPA offers if u wish

I've not had to work around something like that before but I might would try to work with the organization of your blog and maybe put them as a menu item rather than on the front page of your blog. If those links are driving traffic and producing revenue then keep them. If not, I don't see a good reason why you should if they aren't related to your niche.

The ONLY thing that matters is your productivity. That is ALL. If you turn out great quality posts, thousands of words/day as long as you stay generic, do that. If you turn out better quality on specific niches and trying to be more generic slows you down, do THAT.

Nevermind what anyone said, the market is very competitive and you must leverage your own comparative advantages. Do what you enjoy doing, as measured by doing a lot of it, quickly and good quality.

Yes, my short term target is to update content... will analyze traffic and take call on monetizing it.

Well traffic is not that great, just their raking on top page, is too tempting for me to get it removed

Yeah I think be being generic I can keep up with quality and quantity, but again main question that has , how do I make money out of it. Or do I focus on generating traffic first instead of ways to monetizing it . I think it is the most imp hint I have received so far.
