I purchased 'HIDE MY IP' but i don't think it really hides my IP.
Any Suggestions for a proxy with complete anonymity?
Thanks.

Get some VPSes and then tunnel through them - job done

i got a vps but i'm not sure what software to use, i tried squid3 (that allows anonymous) but it doesn't have socks (or at least i don't know how)

thanks!

Grab Putty and download it to system32 (makes it easier in the long run)
Then in a command window type:

putty -D 8080 [email protected] -pw password -N

Where 8080 is a random port number, leave it as this if you want
1.1.1.1 is the IP address of your VPS
password is your root password for the VPS

When that runs you will get a black window up - just minimize it
In your browser, set the proxy to be a SOCKS one using localhost and port 8080

Then go visit http://showmyipaddress.info and see if the IP address is that of your VPS :)

There, fastest setup of a SOCKS - if you have any app that can use a SOCKS proxy can use your VPS as a tunnel, email, IM etc etc

Im not sure about SSH tunneling if you are going to use PP or such as atleast i checked proxyfire and myipaddress.com for ip and it showed blank for ip and country :P got 1 pp limited using VPN which did same .. Dunno for 100% sure tho ;) other than that SSH tunneling is nice

ssh tunneling should show the country where your VPS is, well all mine do anyway :)
If the website you check your IP address with comes back with a blank IP address, how does the Internet know whow to send the page back to you :D

i tried the ssh tunneling, working perfectly here! thanks

Thanks Guys. I'll try some of the tips.

If you need real anonymity you have two options.
Well 3, but the 3rd one is not that easy.

You can use Tor, it's a free service and will give you high anonymity, lacks speed and stability but works.
You can use Cloakfish, same anonymity but a lot more freedom and choices and faster than Tor

The 3rd alternative is not legal anymore, something else (legal) to really hide your identity doesn't come to my mind at the moment.

I can help you with High Anonymity proxies.

I'm on AIM sn "rcommarketing" :)

Awhile ago, I got a proxy made by the company "steganos" I can't even remember what it was called now (this was a couple years ago). But anyway whenever I used it, the damn thing would cause my internet to either run really slow or crash altogether. Since then I havent really tried doing anything with proxies. But if I can find a proxy that won't screw up my internet I'd certainly be interested in using it.

Do the above proxies work with DSL and routers? I have a regular linksys router and a security router. I had also considered switching over to cable so that I could get a hacked modem that lets me change my mac address, but a freind of mine told me, that the two routers I had might give away who I was if I did that. Will this cause a similar problem if I use a proxy? Sorry if I'm off base here, but I really don't know a whole lot about how proxies work when they intereact with this sort of hardware.

Hello I might help you guys out. I am using proxyswitcher(paid version) for my Ip's and for the mac address changer you can use the technitium(hxxp://w3.technitium.c0m/tmac/index.html). Hope i shed some light on the issue

I checked out the proxyswitcher home page, this sounds like it'll be pretty good, price isn't too bad either. Is this available for 64 bit OS's?

But I'm Having a bit of trouble opening up your link (yeah I decloaked it) when I opened it, it says page not found. I wonder if I could still be typing something in wrong.

Awesome, I got the link now. I'm going to take both of these for a test run later today, I'll let you guys know how they go.

That's probably one of the worst things you can do. Logs are kept on VPS's and they're not made for protection so hosting providers will gladly give up your information except perhaps russia etc, but it's still a convoluted and pointless way to do it. You also have to start setting up your own socks server or other solution.

You just get a VPN from somewhere like
Code:
findnot.com

I have been using that method for many years and haven't been 'given up'.

You disagree with me giving advice of using your own VPS - something you have access to the logs on and can delete what you want, easy to do if you know what you are doing. So perhaps thats why you think its unadvisable. You may well be mistaken, but then you still say go and use a third party service.

I would rather trust myself than use a third party - what makes you think they won't give your information away?

So, if you want to trust a third party you go ahead.

As for your super VPN service, if you bothered to read their web page they keep logs for 5 days:

"We keep logs for a maximum of 5 days to protect the system from being used for abusive purposes. Official requests for information/subpoenas normally require more than 5 days. Usually it would take someone more than 5 days to even figure out where we are, and then serving a subpoena would require even more time. We have never actually been served with a lawful subpoena."

So whats the difference between them and me running my own VPS where I can delete my logs whenever I want?

use RDSL it is total solution.$300 for first month
and $250 for next month

Yes, I do know what a VPS is having had 3 successful hosting businesses running over the last 12 years and if you had read some of my other posts you would of noticed I have given it all up to come and play with BH stuff.

As for the programming side of things - any one can google code to cut and paste ;)

Just for you though I have many qualifications from big companies, so I see your CCNA and I raise you Sun Microsystems, IBM, Cisco, Watchguard Firewall, Microsoft and Redhat to name a few in my 18 years of the IT world.

Like I said in my last post, if you want to go put your hope in a third, I will carry on with my VPSes and just keep my fingers crossed I don't get people kicking my door in at 6 in the morning :)

Have a good weekend :)
