Need Blog SEO Advice...

So I'm new to having a blog on my site... I'm using WordPress.

I have the blog installed in my Root folder because I'm using the top banner as a click-thru to my index.html page.

Now, the problem I see with this, is when I try to view my posts via permalink (ie: mydomain/p=7), it brings me directly to my index.html page. If I want to view my blog I have to manually go to my index.php page.

For the purpose of my site this is fine... The only reason I have a blog at all is to spin articles to help boost my rank. The blog is meaningless, I'm not even monetizing it. It would actually be awesome if my traffic off Google got brought directly to my index.html instead of the blog... But, will this hurt my SEOing?

Will the permalinks still show up in the ranks? I would have installed the blog in a sub folder but I really want to use the top banner as an incentive to click and bring them to my index.html which isn't possible otherwise (as far as I know using WP).

Can I please hear your thoughts on this?

move your index.html and all the pages from your main site to another folder in your root tree.
example: http://www.yourdomain.com/(new folder name)/

then your index.html can be accessed this way:
http://www.yourdomain.com/(new folder name)/index.html

So instead of it being.. mydomain/index.html as the main page, and mydomain/index.php as the blog.. Have it as.. mydomain/new/index.html and mydomain/new/index.php?

That will solve the problem to the permalinks?

The only way to preserve your permalinks would have been to install WP inside another folder or a subdomain.

If you wish to keep the WP on the root like it is now, then you'll have to take all of your pages and content and create a folder on your site and move them there. To me, that seems more of a hassle rather than just deleting that WP install and re-installing into a folder or subdomain.

You could always add that banner feature into your site design.

But I need the WordPress banner to direct to mydomain.com not the Root folder the blog is installed in...

That's the part I'm hitting a road block with...
