Need begginers guide to proxies ^^

Hello,

I am a web admin for a friend who is computer illiterate (uses email and facebook), he has a reseller account with a hosting company. Basically his site takes up 5% of his package rate, space, etc...
I have full access and authority to use his resources that he pays for. I wanted to start up a few niche sites with wordpress, I started reading up on internet marketing tools. I want to drive traffic to my sites and get paid through ecommerce, sponsors, donations, affiliates and AS.
How can I use proxy tools/software to help promote, get traffic to my sites?
What and how are proxy tools used for by most?
Recommend some good proxy software and other good marketing tools.

You can try launching google and type in phpMyProxy.

And you can add banner and text links to his site, to generate traffic.

You could also make a pop-over-layer so that when using the proxy

they are visiting his site for a few seconds before being redirected to

their end destination Just some thoughts!

I know its a lil more generally but from how I see proxys atm, they pertain to a wide array of usages. I want to know about them from how and why they are used to how I can apply them to my needs to make $ ultimately.
When researching I get so much info on proxys its hard to put them into a useful perspective.
I need someone to give me some structured details into them. I will continue to read and browse the forums/net.

Scrapebox can send thousands of comments with links to your website (backlinks), mostly to WP blogs. However, blasting 10 000 backlinks to your site from the same IP address is kinda suspicious, so (if I understand correctly) you use proxies to send comments from different IP addresses thus hiding your own.

That's pretty much all I know about proxies, all I need to know and all I want to know for now.
