Need advice...

I'm currently studying in what is known as a Polytechnic in my country ( Singapore), where the school year starts on April. I'm pursuing a Diploma in Banking and Financial services, and the first semester just ended. (I'm in my Freshie year.) So apparently I fucked up the first semester with a GPA of around 2.0455. At this rate it's almost impossible to get into a local University (The entry scores are around 3.6) So I'm stuck in a situation where I have to either continue this route and finish my 3 year education, and get a diploma, which most probably would not get me into a University, or I could switch to a 2-year route Junior College which would get me to A-Levels. A levels are more "favored" by local universities.

So the dilemma is this. If I go ahead and switch routes, I would be 1 year later than my peers, and would effectively render me as a outcast in Junior College. While if I stayed in the Polytechnic, I would not be able to get into a University.

BHW, which route should I choose?

Think about it. Do you really want someone to make such an important choice for you? You're overwhelmed but the choice and the glory are yours and you don't want to share that!

You're never an outcast unless you choose to be. If you're living your dream you are first class and others better recognize. If they don't, fuck em! Once they see you really don't give a fuck and you make no apologies for your education choices they'll know they're looking at a winner!

Needs to make a huge, possibly life changing decision...and he asks BHW.....I love BHW as much as the next guy but come on, this is your life do not hand those decisions to anyone else because all of your decisions has a direct impact on your life and what kind of person you are.

Just a quick comment about college...it's college (or rather uni for me) the only way to be an outcast is if you consciously make the decision to be an outcast. From my experience you will meet people older than you, younger than you and definitely smarter than you and they will have a wide range of interests and opinions. Hell at my uni there are clubs for games, atheists, theists, animes, pokemon (not kidding an entire club dedicated to pokemon though sometimes I will go along and play the game with them), poker, banking, investment stocks and clubbing (it reality it is more of a pick up club for men and women, easily the funniest one

). Point being ANYONE can go to uni at any time of their life and find something that appeals to them whether you are an 18 year old or a 50 year old going for your masters.

If you just want an opinion then here is mine. It is never about what degree you get that determines your job, it is what you do (extra activities), who you know (networking) and how badly you want it. If you change routes your going to be 1 year behind...big whoop more opportunity to pick up girls. If you go the other way you cna always get some kind of internship that may make you spend 3-5 years with 1 company but you'll still get the job.

Thanks mate, but yeah, I posted here, just to try and get different viewpoints on my current situation, so that I could make a better decision. But partially also because of the "networking" part that I'm slanting towards going to Junior College, cause people there are more likely going to proceed on to University (around 90-100% of them do) than to stay in a Polytechnic (of which 10% progress on to University). So I might just be better off trying to network with future degree holders than with future Diploma holders eh? It could even mean more higher paying SEO clients in the future LOL
