I have been working on an online shoe store for about a year now. I have been watching this form for about 4 months. It is obvious that you all know alot more about SEO SERP's and driving trafiic then I do.

I am busting my butt trying to drive traffic to this site. Currently I am only able to get roughly between 15-60 visits a day.

I can see by google analytics that most of my traffic is either direct or by referring sites. I have been trying to work my keyword list but with having such a huge competitive market I am having all kinds of issues with knowing which way to go.

I am in no way an internet marketer just a web designer for a small company who can't afford to hire a bunch of people to do this task.

Does anyone have any advice or simple solutions for someone like me who doesn't know where to go?

Just a little info about the company they sell casual and dress shoes for men and women. Heels, pumps, and etc...

Thanks a lot for any and all help!

increase SERPs. work on on-site SEO. Increase backlinks.
    advertise. adwords etc.

    That's best 2 bets.

It is unfortunate we don't have a budget for advertising. We have been trying to work on link building through getting reviews of our products. That has helped some and has sent some traffic back but it just isn't nearly enough.

As far as on site SEO goes I have been trying to work on the meta data and keyword density however the online shoe market is so competitive I dont know where to start to try to drive more traffic.

I've seen numerous times that Alexa doesn't mean anything but we have a ranking of around 277,000 and a PR of 1/10.

We have been trying to use facebook as well for some marketing with pages however that hasn't been much of any help either.

What else is there that could be done for on site SEO or link building? How many links are enough...

Backlinks are enough when you are satisfied with the amount of visits/business :)

But if you don't spend the money, don't expect to ever get big or do any real business. You are competing with people who DO spend money, and you'll never be able to outdo that.

    But with that being said....

Create a product people would want to see/buy/etc. Make backlinks. Create as many social marketing accounts as you can. More backlinks. start getting followers for the social accounts. Create backlinks. create content on your site. Make more backlinks. Get your social followers to visit your content. Then don't forget to make some more backlinks.

that will help drive up your visitors 2-3X what you currently see.

Article marketing for one and using longer tailed or less competitive keywords should help you get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Online shoe store? What? You're trying to beat out Zappos and Endless....by yourself? My girlfriend recently bought highheelpumps.org. She's usually ranks around #10. (She's also never really pushed any backlinks in her direction.) Just goes to show you the power of having an exact domain name.

You WOULD have a chance in hell if you built out wide. Many smaller websites targeted for particular shoes. (basically many niche sites) You WILL rank for those terms fairly easily.

Craigslist helps too. Also, answering questions on Yahoo and inserting your aff link can get you more traffic as well.

We are not trying to beat out Zappos because Zappos sells already named brand products. The company I work for has their own brand which they design themselves. They are trying to get into a niche relating to Dress and casual shoes (heels , evening, boots, and sandals for women, Dress, casual, and sandals for men) It is just one brand and they have a great product... I have already created a wordpress blog for them however I am afraid they are not blogging enough about the product to get anywhere with that. They are also members of about 50 or more fashion related forums which allow them to advertise themselves. The url has the keyword shoes in it. However im sure you all know the keyword shoes is very competitive as biks mentioned competing with zappos would definitively be pretty hard to do.

I am by no means an expert in SEO im just a noob who is trying to learn how to do this. I have read lots of stuff on SEO and implemented a lot of what I've learned to get little results.

This is why I came to Black Hat forums, you all know what your talking about and I believed I could get the best answers here!
