So I have a client who sells tires. He's now in season and desperately needs traffic. AdWords is up and running, but I need something to cover organic visits. What's the most efficient way to proceed? Articles?

I would go with articles and press release.
Try to rank him for some long local keywords

Absolutely amazes me how some people here have 'clients', then come here asking what to do for said 'clients'. Not singling OP out, but there's usually one a day or every couple days.

I do work for people like this, but not SEO related. They sell custom PHP coding but don't know one bit PHP. So when they finally sell something they JV me :p always fun
So that might also be a solution for the OP. JV with someone to do the SEO for you and split the profits.

Would you say that you're easily amazed then?

I don't do SEO for profit, it's a hobby. I do PHP work for this 'client' and he asked if I could help with SEO. He's been royally scammed, I think it's the appropriate word in this case, by local 'SEO gurus' and 'SEO companies'. He lost faith and he simply needs someone he can trust to at least prove that SEO in fact is not a voodoo magic, that it's real and can be done. And that's what I'm trying to do here.

All my little experiments with autoblogs and link pyramids and Scrapebox blasts do not give me enough experience to come up with an efficient strategy on a short notice, thus I came here. Shame on me, I guess.

The best way to see which services are good is to check:

    (a) popularity
    (b) number of stars
    (c) good reviews
    (d) i trader and rep
    (e) amount of time they've been on the site

You get the idea. All the information you could need is right HERE, if you do a little digging. There are lots of all in one services on here, for example, which you could simply use to outsource the whole gig and put your markup on top.

    For example,

Try: thesilents service, and some Big Buddy EDU and you'll be in good shape. Nice and simple, no hassle.

I have a high-profile tire client. Highly recommend focus on makes and models of tire keywords, put unique content on each page of the site. Do some linkbuilding, as others recommended above, but onsite content is the key. The higher quality the better.

There are a good few Local marketers on this forum.

Local SEO i.e city+business rankings are not super hard to get , Just make a decent link plan (High PR links , Fresh content , Web 2.0's etc) and keep the link velocity coming (Slow and steady linkbuilding works well) and i dont see how you will run into any problems :)

It might be worthwhile to look into the Mobile/SMS market side of things also for your client as its quite big and it could get him extra business and you more $$$ !
