I need some advice from somebody who has experience on ebay. I sold about 10 units of Windows 7 on there that have turned out to be counterfeit. At this point, some of the transactions are 30+ days old and Microsoft has blocked their OS stating it was counterfeit. I guess it sounds like the flood gates will open with others I have sold to since then. What am I to do at this point. Is selling only 10 items something that is of interest to the authorities? And assuming the rest make it past the 45 day dispute window, should I close my ebay account at this point and move on to avoid irate buyers contacting Micrsoft or Piracy authorities?

after 1 or 2 complaints expect ebay to be suspended and paypal limited. get funds out og paypal... i hope it's a stealth account and you'll be ok... have they opened disputes yet? Or just e-mailed you. What supplier did you get the windows for, what did they sell for?
I didnt realize they were counterfiets until i had sold them. I made good money off of them, so i guess it was too good to be true. How can i look into stealth accounts? My accounts have all of my real info. Since they arent stealth accounts, I will deal with whatever comes my way. Only 1 dispute filed so far, i refunded . Another was filed but closed by the buyer after i got him a good key. That was 30 days ago. Now he got cut off by micrsoft so he said he is filing again for fraud?

if he filed a dispute then closed it he cant reopen it soo you should be ok

big mistake with the real info. Step 1. Get the money out of PayPal. Step 2. Close E-bay account. Step 3. Reset modem. Step 4. Set up new e-bay account with fake info. Step 5. Shut down email account, or at least never look back. Step 6. Resell the Windows 7, as many times as you can until you get caught. Step. 7 Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.
What about a new paypal account? Is that needed? I guess my issue there is I assume I have to supply my real banking info to get the money? I understand the other steps outlined but am lost as far as the paypal thing. And as far as resetting the modem, is that just cutting power from it for a minute or physically pressing a reset button on it? Thanks

resetting modem, for the most part will do nothing. you'd need to change mac address on most routers (assuming you're using a router) or learn to re-new, re-lease etc. Ebay stealth is on the do not share list, so I can't give you that, but suggest spending the little $$ for in, as it'll be worth it 1000000x over when you're running stealth ebay safely. I did the same thing a couple years ago with XP pro. Bought a bundle of ten off craigslist and was assured they were genuine. I flipped them and doubled my money within a few days. Never had any problems with that first batch but the seller was no longer on craigslist. I learned about a site that I could buy them in bulk (from China) so I bought 50 of them and proceeded on my merry ebay way -- first my auctions started getting the vero shutdown but I had several accounts so I started just putting one or two at a time on trying to stay under the radar. That worked for a little while -- until I started getting the counterfeit complaints. Long story short -- I'll never do that again. I found myself giving refunds right and left. I was able to do most of the damage control but ended up losing an account with over 800 feedbacks at 100% and got a ppal account jammed up for six months.
It was fast easy money at first but cost me in the long run. That was my first and last experience with knock offs.
If I were in your shoes (I'm not giving advice, just saying what I'd do) I'd stop selling them immediately and give refunds to anyone that isn't happy with the product, even if was going to cost me to do it, especially if my name and bank account was involved. I'd do anything necessary keep a buyer happy and keeping him from seeking a higher authority with a complaint. I'd refund the shipping and apologize profusely and swear I had no idea and promise them I'd never do it again and thank them for bringing it to my attention and give them a glowing feedback immediately. But that's just me. All it takes is one pissed off buyer and a couple angry emails to the right people to take you places you really don't sound like you want to go.
Anyway -- take that for what it's worth to you and I hope it helps

dont use your real info when register with ebay.
If its your first time getting "caught" they will just suspend your account and you will get a cease and assist letter. not a big deal really, just say you bought them under the impression they were genuine. thats what i did with my ms office 07's
