I just need some simple advice before I start or invest in any online business. What are the main things I should understand about taxes, payments, and staying safe legally?

Save yourself lots of time, and spend money on a good local accountant, that does your accounts for you at the end of the year. Apart from that record every in and out in your different than your personal bank account, your business bank account.

Register things in your company name, so your company has assets and controls things, and you are not liable for tax on any things you might sell later. (your company will, which is different if you want to deduct company expenses against your company tax bill).
