Ok I have a question is it best to have a adult website that sounds like a porn site for example pornhub.com it obviously sounds like a porn site or would it be better to sound more discreet when naming a adult site for example like xvideos.com it somewhat sounds like a porn site but more discreet than having the word porn in it like pornhub?

If you plan to market this site and want it to become as big as Pornhub then definitely it would be best to make it sound like a pornsite. If you're familiar with SEO's then choosing keywords connecting to your brand, products and services you offer would be your great chance for futures customers to finding you easily over the internet. For instance, if you Google the word shoes, you'll get referred to big footwear brands like Nike or Adidas although you hadn't type these brands. The explanation for this is because these brands are already known footwear brands although they have transitioned now to making other athletic products. Still, they are originally footwear brands. My explanation might be hard for you to understand due to me not having English as my first language, but pretty sure you'll get the gist of what I'm explaining, aight?

Any name with an x in it that does not belong to the word will be seen as porn I think.

Nah.. I know a Japanese mangga site which starts in this letter. Also, I wonder how will X-men fans react to your message once they read it..haha goodluck bud

What you actually need is branding, which includes naming too. If you plan to make it big, pay someone to do that. If not, choose anything you want - it really doesn't matter.

I have a question for you, where do you contact people willing to make a porn brand name and market the site afterwards? This is kinda hard to do especially that you'd be needing a team or someone willing to work for a porno project. Imagine approaching freelancers asking they'd be interested this project. You probably get rejections from women and also men that are sensitive in this topic.

I think there are also many people that doesn't really mind. As long as you pay them enough.

Oh yes, I forgot about the X-men when I typed my message :)

Your web site makes your project and name popular, not vice versa. Try to get catchy name and start working hard on your web site.

I have no eyedea. But-t brand name can do a lot in adult niche. Can you have brand name potatoes for it? May be if potatoes is your thing.

Would you rather go to a porn site that has a discreet name or a site that sounds like a porn site name?

I own quite a few nice names (still havent set up sites for some), just be creative and youll find a good name... Lots to chose from.

Thank you everyone who replied to this thread...:)

X-man fans are no more. :anyway:

OP, have you explored more exotic TLD options with premium domain names? Or are you set on .com?

I prefer a site where I don't have to type too much to enter a direct link and has a name that is easy to remember and spell.
Why? Because I have to type it in with one hand!

Domains containing keywords is easier to rank.

But short catchy brand name is more memorable.

I am only interested in .com name, I am unsure that ppl would visit an adult site that is another tld.
