Need Advice On a CMS

wordpress should be able to handle your site - im pro joomla all the way, the vulnerabilites as already stated are usually to do with third party apps, if anything joomla standalone is possibly one of the more secure os cms around, but thats for a different thread to debate in...

as a web developer with 100's and 100's of joomla sites under my belt i can assure you it can manage your traffic, we have a few sites that have over 5000 registered members and the sites work fine, you need to be more concerned with your hosting account and the type of server its running from

I vote for Drupal. For now i'm running one drupal site which im happy with. It is fully custumizable and really easy to use. I like it more than wordpress because its easy to make own theme which can look exactly as html page. Even for my first use i was able to easily make my own template with not even basic php knowledge by editting existing default theme.
It have built-in forum, blog and many other stuff may be installed.
Its good for high traffic site (not epic traffic like google, youtube etc...).

I have not long experience with drupal (as i said one site till now), but for now i had no problems with it.

If you ask me, Drupal is way to go. If you choose it, pm me to point you to right tutorial which will make you fully understand it in few days.

Dude... I run two Franchise sites completely on WordPress to generate leads that I in turn sell to franchise brokers for $20 apiece.

These two sites running completely on WordPress that get an easy half mil unique visitors a month on one and a quarter mil uniques on the other.

Each site has over 10K articles... Each article has a unique contact page for that particular franchise.

Then I run the usual plugins for optimization...

The bandwidth from these two sites is NOTHING compared to the same traffic using one of the aforementioned scripts and a couple that weren't mentioned.

Hell yeah WordPress works... Go for it.

You need to post the link otherwise it's impossible to guess.

If you're looking to create an article site there is a script for wordpress which - if you were using cpanel - could be installed with no coding. Otherwise Article CMS looks quite easy.

Thanks for all the info everyone, looks like it's wordpress all the way for me.

I agree Wordpress is very light weight. Nobody will say otherwise. But having an optin on each page may not be the same level of complexity that others above may require.

My point: If you have a lot of articles and information to post, a CMS is good but if you are just starting out having an empty cms site is weird. CMS platforms offer a lot fo options and you have to fill a lot of those options with content, so before you even try a CMS system make sure you have the Content to be managed.
